This smaller piece came to only 12×9″ before framing, and shows Gurteen Beach, in the Connemara region of west Ireland.  Sitting back to back with equally stunning Dog’s Bay this beach is a perfect slice of Ireland.

Goldenrods litter the grassy sand dunes in the forefront, with a sprinkle of little houses behind sitting on the hills before reaching the more mountainous regions behind.

This was a custom order for a Galway-born family so attention to detail was a must.  I’m particularly happy with the rocky areas right at the end of the beach and the few rocks peaking out of the water.

All hand cut and made from assorted papers, this piece mostly uses Bristol paper I’ve painted to give a more natural feel to the piece with the varying strokes of the paint.
