In this illustration, two brave witches forage through a vast forest for the perfect potion ingredients.
The original was sized at 14×18″ (quite large for me), allowing me to really pack these woods with some great little details. I also had it framed in a black frame to add that bit of suspense to the image. Fun fact: this frame is made locally and the coloring is made by charring the wood and then applying a finish to keep that color in. This creates a very natural-looking, textural feel to the frame in the end. Literally.
Using new techniques including gold climbing mushrooms and a smooth gradient effect on some super spooky foxgloves this one was a real joy to create.
