Growing up on Martha’s Vineyard, my family’s favorite beach has always been Lambert’s Cove. My mom (a fiber artist) even made a beautiful wall-hanging when I a kid from a photo of us all walking the trail to the water.
So obviously: it was only a matter of time until I made a paper version myself.
This 12×9″ cut paper illustration shows that special moment when you finally emerge from the woods and wheeze up that sand dune to catch that first glimpse of the ocean water. Framed in a custom made walnut shadowbox (made by local woodworker extraordinaire David Wiley) featuring museum-grade glass that protects the art from sun and glare.
Created exclusively with painted papers, I really wanted this piece to feel very natural, calming and as peaceful as a day at the beach. Complete with not-too-close seagulls above.
While the original has sold, you can find a similar piece in limited edition print form in my shop: click here to check it out!
